Federal Recycling & Waste Solutions acquires Harrisburg Waste Paper Co.
Federal Recycling & Waste Solutions, a St. Louis-based independent recycling and waste management company, has acquired Harrisburg Waste Paper Co. in Pennsylvania to expand its new footprint in the eastern United States.
The Harrisburg location offers plastic, metal, and paper recycling, certified destruction, equipment sales, and leasing as well as several other services, and becomes Federal Recycling’s eighth facility, including Jefferson City, Missouri; Columbus, Georgia; Dallas, Denver, Houston, San Antonio, and St. Louis.
“This is an exciting step to further grow our organization and provide our customers with enhanced services and expertise,” Federal Recycling President and CEO Sam Still says. “We are pleased to welcome the Harrisburg team to Federal Recycling and combine our longevity within the recycling industry and exceptional family-owned operations and culture.”

Harrisburg Waste Paper Co. was founded in 1904 and has serviced the greater central Pennsylvania region for more than 100 years, and Federal Recycling says the location provides it with increased accessibility to new customers in the East and supports the company’s brokerage activities, both domestic and international.
Federal Recycling says Aaron Freedman, a fourth-generation family owner of Harrisburg Waste Paper Co., will continue to oversee plant operations as general manager and brings 25 years of experience in the recycling industry.
“Our team is thrilled to join Federal Recycling and continue our tradition of providing outstanding recycling services to our customers,” he said. “As part of Federal Recycling, one of the leading independent firms in our industry, we will have additional resources, knowledge, and support to grow our business and build on our long history of success.”
